My student's name

One of my students' first name is Jesus!

I was handing back homework and calling out students' names. I mumbled, "Jesus?" and looked around, wondering to which student the name belonged. A young man sitting in the front row smiled and raised his hand. "How should I pronounce your name?" I asked. "Hay-soos," he replied, "or some of my friends call me 'Jebus,' after a Simpson episode. You may call me 'Jebus' too if it's easier."

Another student (not mine) who works in the library is named "Asia." Nope, she's not Asian.

And I remember the Asian friendly fastfood cashier whose name is Israel.

Knew a guy with that name when I was working at Trinity, he is a janitor. What do you think, a 'Jesus' working in a seminary!

I met someone name Jesus too in Mexico. In Spanish, it sounds like "Hoo-soos".
