The picture at left shows UCLA chancellor & faculty members in their colorful gowns, ready to start the show.
Mitchell Morris (left), member on my dissertation committee; Susan McClary (center), chair of the committee & my dear mentor; and Rob Walser (right), the department chair. You wouldn't imagine how great yet personable, understanding, & generous Susan is by just reading her works; you'll have to work with her to find out!
My colleagues, Andy and Olivia. Q.: Why's Olivia's gown blue and ours black? Ans.: she bought hers, Andy and I rented ours :(
My folks and guests. You can figure out which is which, right?

Thanks for posting the photos! You were right, everyone looked happy even they sat through a long ceremony. Your dad looks serious though.
Dad has only 1 expression when facing the camera. I would say he was the most excited among the 6 of us.
Now that I know you have a blog too! it's a great way to keep yourself updated to people who care about you, isn't it?
You definitely made the right decision to attend the ceremony. I didn't regret doing so and also God gave me a miracle that both my parents and Lulu could attend mine.
Hello Patrick,
