He is God

Acknowledging the greatness of God, his sovereignty, his dominion over the mighty waters, the clouds, thunder ... is so reassuring in time like this. While my sister's presence makes a huge difference, in the past week (that is, the 2nd week since dad's in the ICU) I see much good coming out of the seemingly chaotic situation, as it says in the Bible, "all things God works for the good of those who love him" (Rom 8:28). My heart begins to feed on not what God does or what He gives, but on that HE IS. He's the Anchor. He's the King. And He is God.

Your ways, O God, are holy.
What god is so great as our God?

You are the God who performs miracles;
you display your power among the peoples.

With your mighty arm you redeemed your people,
the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.

The waters saw you, O God,
the waters saw you and writhed;
the very depths were convulsed.

The clouds poured down water,
the skies resounded with thunder;
your arrows flashed back and forth.

Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind,
your lightning lit up the world;
the earth trembled and quaked.

Your path led through the sea,
your way through the mighty waters,
though your footprints were not seen.

You led your people like a flock
by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Psalm 77:13-20 (NIV)
